Our Mission
A single summer at camp can have a profound impact on kids, creating unforgettable experiences and forging lifelong friendships. Unfortunately, camp isn’t an opportunity all families can afford. Ubuntu Camp Connections aims to change that by providing scholarship aid to new and returning campers so that finances don’t stand in the way of a life-changing experience.
Our Philosophy
“Ubuntu” means strength through community. It teaches us that individuals are stronger when they contribute to and draw support from their community and that this participation in turn makes the community stronger. The practice of Ubuntu creates a sense of pride, security, confidence, and responsibility. In our view, Ubuntu epitomizes the camp experience. We are striving to bring that experience to more kids and in doing so strengthen both camp and wider communities.
Our Vision
Ubuntu Camp Connections is committed to breaking down barriers of entry to life-changing experiences at summer camp. Ubuntu fosters a community based on genuine relationships that defy differences in background. We believe that these differences enrich and strengthen the camp community. In the spirit of Ubuntu and a shared passion for camp, we are making and restoring connections between camps, campers, and alumni and recruiting them in a common effort to make a wonderful camp community even stronger through greater inclusivity.
